Bridgeport Police seek juvenile murder suspect

BRIDGEPORT — In an attempt to generate leads, the Bridgeport Police Department’s Homicide Unit released a photo of a juvenile they said is a suspect in the murder of Jeri Kollock in Oct. 2017.

Police ask anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Jahmari “Wack” Cooper, 17, contact the Fugitive Task Force at 203-581-5259 or 203-581-5224, or the Bridgeport Police tip line at 203-576-TIPS.

Bridgeport Police hold an active juvenile arrest warrant for Cooper, who police said will turn 18 on Jan. 30. When arrested, police said he will be charged with murder, felony murder and first-degree robbery.

Kollock, 18,was killed on Oct. 11, 2017 in Greene Homes Building 1. He was the city’s 21st of 23 homicide in 2017.

Bridgeport Police said Kollock was forced to strip naked, robbed of his jewelry and then shot seven times as he tried to escape. For 45 minutes, Kollock dragged himself up a stairway, bleeding, to get to a door where he yelled for help, police said.

“I receive text messages or phone calls or voicemails from his (Kollock) mother three to four times a week,” said Capt. Roderick Porter who heads the department’s Detective Bureau.

“She expresses her torment and her frustration with the way that she lost her son. She often expresses to me she has no peace,” Porter added. “For her, I just think that it’s important that we help bring this person into custody so that we can provide her with some measure of justice.”
