Police are investigating a fight that erupted at The Local restaurant, located in the Sportsplex on Mill Plain Road, early Saturday.
Officers arriving on the scene were flagged down by an off-duty firefighter, who told them to stop a black Mercedes that was leaving the lot. The driver, who had blood on his shirt, denied being in a fight, according to a fight.
The victim told police he came to the Local with two friends, and was talking to some women at the bar when a "large" man approached and told him to stop talking to the women. He told police that he did, but claimed a short time later the man approached him again, grabbed him around the neck and punched him in the face. Then, he said, four other men began assaulting him, according to the report. One of his friends tried to break up the fight, but said he, too, was assaulted.
At some point, the fight moved outside and then back into the bar, police were told. The bar manager said he was also assaulted when he tried to break up the fight, and the first victim's other friend said she was assaulted by women, who pulled her hair, according to the report.
There was blood on the floor of the bar, according to the report.
The suspects could not be positively identified, but police plan to review any available security video.
