An officer driving by 691 Post Road Thursday afternoon saw two men set off aerial fireworks, police said.
The officer heard a loud bang, and saw the fireworks explode in the air. He saw the two men putting a fireworks launcher into the trunk of a car, according to the report.
Richard Benevides, 48, of Aston Street, Bridgeport, admitted the fireworks were his, police said.
In the trunk were three, large, unexploded fireworks, according to the report.
He was charged with illegal possession of fireworks and released on a promise to appear May 6 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
