Two Bridgeport women were arrested Tuesday morning after police said they tried to shoplift $430 worth of groceries from Super Stop & Shop, 760 Villa Ave.
Jennifer Rodriguez, 22, of Pequonnock Street, and Wanda Verret, 34, of North Avenue, were both charged with sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny.
The pair loaded a cart with groceries and attempted to leave the store, police said. When confronted by security personnel, they said, "Sorry," and fled on foot, according to the report. They were seen going into the nearby Dunkin' Donuts on Tunxis Hill Road, and that is where officers found them.
Police said the pair acknowledged going into the grocery store intending to shoplift and even brought a shopping list with them.
The women were released on a promise to appear Feb. 3 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
