Several Fairfield students were winners in the statewide Reflections arts competition sponsored by the National PTA. They will receive their awards at a formal ceremony Thursday, May 8, at Fairfield Woods Middle School.
Of the 22 statewide winners, 10 of them, or nearly half, were from Fairfield, according to Ellin Smith, Reflections coordinator at Fairfield Ludlowe High School. First-place winners in the state will be sent on to the national-level competition.
All of the students who participated at the state level were first-place winners at their individual schools.
Among the Connecticut first-place winners are: Fairfield Ludlowe students Kiara Burns, who placed first in the Dance category; Alexis Maresca, who took first place in Film; Liam Farrell, who won in the Music category; and Monique LaFlamme, who took first place in the Photography category. Second-place winners are Fairfield Warde High School students Mitchell Yeoh, for Film, and Emma Vahey, for Literature; and Diana Rose Smith from Fairfield Ludlowe for Visual Arts. Maddy Baer, of Fairfield Warde, took a third place in Music, and Emily Brennan, also a Fairfield Warde student, was awarded third place in Visual Arts. Krushangi Maisuria from Fairfield Ludlowe was awarded fourth place in Literature.
