Five health and safety sessions have been planned at the Fairfield Senior Center.
On Wednesday, June 4, chiropractor, Dr. Cathy Brodows will speak on "Three Types of Stress and How to Manage Them." Brodows has been in practice for 17 years.
On Thursday, June 5 and again on Thursday, June 12, Fairfield Assistant Fire Chief George Gomola will present a two-part program on the principles of "Z Health." Z Health teaches people how to get out of bed safely and pain free in the morning and to eliminate dangerous falls. At the program, seniors can also sign up for free smoke detectors from the Fairfield Fire Department and will be given a free "File of Life" package to list all medical issues, medications and emergency contacts.
On Monday, June 9, registered pharmacist Naga Mulpuri will speak about medication safety. Her talk will include information on matching medical conditions with prescribed medications, how to prevent medication interactions, and prescription synchronization to organize medication.
On Monday, June 23 Mulpuri will speak on "Cardiac and Hypertension Medications," reviewing the most common medications for heart issues and high blood pressure.
All of the health events are at 10 a.m., are free, and will be held at the Senior Center, 100 Mona Terrace. Participants in any of the programs should call 203-256-3166 to reserve a seat.
