The Connecticut Dance School's annual production, "Dances to Celebrate Spring," at the Westport Country Playhouse on Friday, March 21, will feature a premiere, "Capriccio Espagnol," choreographed to the music of Rimsky Korsakov by the school's assistant artistic director Moira Murphy Wright.
The cast includes three couples and a corps de ballet of 12. Five of the six dancers performing as couples are graduating seniors.
The evening of original works also includes other works choreographed by Murphy Wright and the school's artistic director, Alan Woodard, and performed by the school's advanced level dancers.
There will be a silent auction at 6 p.m., the performance at 7 p.m. and a reception from 8 to 9 p.m. including music and a buffet. Proceeds of the program support the school's scholarship fund, Nutcracker costume initiative, master classes by guest artists and community outreach program.
