Police are investigating a burglary -- and the reported theft of jewelry -- at a North Street home Tuesday afternoon. Officers were alerted to an activated burglar alarm about 1 p.m. at the house by an alarm company.
When officers arrived, they found a door had been forced open. A piece of the door jamb was on the ground and the print of boot was visible below the door handle, according to the report.
No one was in the house, but a wooden jewelry box with about $3,000 in assorted jewelry was reported stolen.
