Kids author to read at bookstore April 26

Children's book illustrator and author Jennifer Thermes will read her book "There Are No Moose on This Island" on Saturday, April 26, at the downtown Fairfield University Bookstore.

The Newtown artist will appear at 4 p.m. on the second floor of the 1499 Post Road shop, the bookstore said. In addition to reading to children, Thermes will conduct a drawing demonstration and sign copies of her book.

The event is free and open to the public, the store said, but reservations are required by emailing FairfieldUBookstoreEvents@gmail.com or by calling 203-255-7756, ext 501.

Of "There Are No Moose on This Island," ForeWord Reviews said, "Gorgeously painted seals, hawks, deer and squirrels prance across these pages, and the humorous rhyme of the text hops playfully, as well. Both a fun and important read."

Previous children's titles illustrated and written by Thermes include "When I Was Built" and "Sam Bennett's New Shoes."

She has illustrated numerous other books.
