What's wrong with the Republican majority on the Representative Town Meeting? Every budget season they claim they want to know what we're thinking. We send them emails and speak at meetings and write letters. But, let's face it. They never listen. They just don't really care about us. Shame on them!
And yet year after year we keep re-electing these same people -- the ones who don't care what most of the people want, the ones who claim to scrutinize the budget items, the ones who claim they need more time to do this and aren't ready to tell us any details at the April meeting because they aren't quite finished with this "arduous task."
Then they show up the first Monday in May with a list of reductions to various proposed increases but no explanation as to why they cherry-picked those particular line items -- except that they fit their grand plan of how to get to the budget increase down to certain percentage they find acceptable -- the public be damned! Our quality of education be damned! Our quality of life be damned! They claim they are saving the taxpayers money -- $43 per household this time around -- after seven long hours of trying to convince them to pass the budget as presented. Shame on them!
What's wrong with them? Or better yet, what's wrong with us? We are the ones that keep re-electing this same Republican majority, expecting them to listen to us the next time. We are just asking for it. Enough! We must band together and throw the rascals out. If we don't, then shame on us!
