A 61-year-old Fairfield man accused of stalking a woman he formerly dated arrested Sunday night on charges of harassing and stalking a woman he previously dated was charged with new offenses Monday when he appeared in Bridgeport Superior Court.
Barry L. Hammons, of Sunset Circle, who was held on $25,000 bond, went to his arraignment Monday on charges of first-degree criminal trespass, second-degree harassment and second-degree stalking.
When he arrived in court, he was charged on a warrant with second-degree harassment and second-degree stalking stemming from an April 11 incident.
He was released from court Monday wearing a GPS bracelet, police said.
Hammons had been warned by police not to have any contact with the woman, but called her 10 times Sunday and another 12 times a couple of days ago, according to the report. Police said he entered her Windsor Road yard and rang her doorbell early Sunday evening.
Hammons had dated the woman about six months ago, police said.
On April 11, the woman called police around 1 p.m. to say that Hammons was sitting in a car parked on her street. He had been there since about 11 a.m. that morning. When officers arrived, Hammons was reading a book. He was warned and sent on his way, police said. Later, when police learned he had been warned previously, they applied for a warrant.
