A North Benson Road man was arrested Tuesday evening after his third accident in about two weeks.
Daniel B. Topar, 31, was charged with driving under the influence, failure to obey a traffic signal, evading responsibility and four counts of possession of a controlled substance.
Topar was driving north on Stillson Road just before 7 p.m. Tuesday when he struck a car traveling north on North Benson Road. After hitting the car, police said he left the scene and was found at home later by officers. He was in his driveway, trying to fix the damaged door panel on his car, according to the report.
He had in his possession Etizolam, a benzodiazepine that police said is not authorized for use in the United States, according to the report.
Topar is also under investigation for two other recent motor vehicle accidents, one at 10:30 p.m. July 31 and the second at 4:45 a.m. Aug. 1.
Topar is scheduled to appear Aug. 26 in Bridgeport Superior Court in connection with the most recent accident.
