Richard Silvestro, 52, of Cascade Drive, faces assault and other charges after police said he threw things at his girlfriend during an argument Tuesday.
Police said the dispute occurred around 10 a.m. Tuesday at Silvestro's home. The woman suffered a cut on her hand during the incident, according to the report, and left the premises when Silvestro picked up a kitchen knife, threatened to hurt himself and then fled in his vehicle.
The woman called police from her home, and while she was making the call, Silvestro drove by her home, according to the report. Officers stopped Silvestro near High Ridge Road, and who told them he was going to the girlfriend's house to apologize.
Silvestro was charged with third-degree assault, threatening, disorderly conduct and third-degree criminal mischief. He was released on a written promise to appear Wednesday in Bridgeport Superior Court and taken to the Bridgeport Hospital for evaluation.
