A traffic stop Sunday night led to the arrest of Lavon J. Hamilton, 23, on charges of selling drugs in Fairfield.
An officer stopped Hamilton's car around 7:30 p.m. Sunday on Black Rock Turnpike when he saw the car cross over the road's double-yellow line. When the officer approached the car, he said he detected a strong odor of fresh marijuana.
Hamilton admitted to recently smoking pot, according to the report. Inside the vehicle's glove box was a bag of marijuana, and inside the center console were four plastic bags, police said. Hamilton also had a scale, and cash that was folded into separate stacks, police said.
While he was being interviewed by police, Hamilton received numerous phone calls from different phone numbers, and allegedly admitted to selling the marijuana, according to the report.
Hamilton, who lives on Vincellette Street in Bridgeport, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and sale of marijuana. He was released on a promise to appear March 19 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
