The Fairfield Theatre Company is ringing in the new year with reggae and rock. Mystic Bowie is performing Monday, Dec. 30, and Kung Fu & Friends is on stage for New Year's Eve, Tuesday, Dec. 31.
Mystic Bowie, originally hailing from Jamaica, is returning to Fairfield Theatre Company's StageOne. Known for his showmanship and high-energy performances, his hit single "Nevah Kiss & Tell" from his "Sweet Jamaica" album was nominated for an award by the Okanagan International Film Fest in Canada. This past year, Mystic has performed with a variety of funk and rock groups, including the B-52s, Trey Anastasio (Phish), Widespread Panic and the Tom Tom Club.
On Tuesday, Dec. 31, funk-rock-fusion group Kung Fu performs at StageOne. The five-member group features guitarist Tim Palmieri, "The Animal" Adirian Tramantano on drums, Todd Stoops on keyboards, Rob Somervile on sax and Chris DeAngelis on bass. Known for its danceability, the group's show is expected to turn into a New Year's dance party.
Tickets for Mystic Bowie are $25 in advance, with a $3 discount for members. Tickets for Kung Fu's New Year's Eve show are $50, with a $5 member discount. All patrons 21 and older will receive a complimentary glass of champagne at midnight.
Tickets for both shows can be purchased online at www.fairfieldtheatre.org. Both are at StageOne, 70 Sanford St. at 7:30, with doors opening at 7 p.m.
