Sullivan McKinney Elder Housing Apartments on Meadowbrook Road has received a $150,000 grant from Santa Energy Corp. to put toward ongoing renovations at the 40-unit complex.
Santa, a Bridgeport company that sells various fuels and electricity and operates fuel terminals, made the payment through a state tax-credit program that pairs nonprofit housing programs with for-profit businesses, according to a news release.
A series of renovations to the 25-year-old Sullivan McKinney complex began in 2010 and are expected to be completed in 2014.
Millennium Real Estate Services LLC, which helped arrange funding from various sources, said a total of $1.5 million in upgrades include more efficient VAC systems, renovation and modernization of the building envelope and apartments, community room finishes, expansion of the existing parking lot, exterior drainage, apartment cabinets and countertops.
Other funding sources include a federal Department of Housing and Urban Development Green Retrofit Grant, HUD mortgage refinancing and Community Development Block Grants through the town of Fairfield.
