Streets around the Cumberland Farms gas station on Kings Highway -- the scene of a chain-reaction crash last week caused by a woman who police said was driving drunk -- will be closed for nearly an hour tonight as police investigating the incident "reconstruct" factors in the accident.
Cumberland Farms is located at the corner of Kings Highway and Chambers Street, and police say that the study will require closing Chambers Street -- from Kings Highway to Johnson Drive -- from 8 p.m. today until about 8:45 p.m.
Interstate 95's southbound Exit 24 ramp -- connecting with Chambers Street directly across from Cumberland Farms -- also will be closed during that time, police said.
The purpose of the street closures, police said, will help ascertain the approximate speed that the driver -- Rosa Blanca Chavarria-Medina, 31, of Howard Avenue, Bridgeport -- was traveling at the time of the March 25 crash.
Chavarria-Medina has been charged with driving under the influence, first-degree reckless endangerment, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, reckless driving, passing on the right, and failure to stop at a stop sign.
She was scheduled to answer the charges today in Bridgeport Superior Court.
