Baró, the Latin restaurant in the Brick Walk shopping complex, will host a benefit on Wednesday, Feb. 19, for Community Plates, the nonprofit that collects surplus food from restaurants and grocery stores to feed the needy.
The evening of Spanish-themed food and drink will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. at the 1229 Post Road restaurant.
Tickets are $40 and include one "signature" cocktail being concocted specially for the event, another complimentary drink, tapas, tacos and other foods, Baró said in a news release.
The restaurant, which opened in August, said 50 percent of ticket proceeds and 100 percent of proceeds from each $10 "signature" cocktail sold would benefit Norwalk-based Community Plates.
Community Plates is operated by volunteers who pick up surplus food at restaurants, groceries, bakeries and other food-service locations and deliver it to soup kitchens, food banks and other agencies.
Tickets are available by visiting Baró at 1229 Post Road, emailing the restaurant at email@example.com or calling 203-292-9560.
