Last year, the Fairfield co-op boys and girls skiing team added to their list of state championships in the Connecticut Interscholastic Ski League.
The boys, who were 22-1 overall, went 8-1 to win the Class L Division Championship and the state title as well. The girls went 16-1 overall and 6-0 to capture the Class L Division title and the state championship, too.
The girls won their fifth state championship and the boys claimed their fourth.
Gary Quiricone is in his 18th year as coach and Rick Quiricone is his assistant coach.
The CISL has been around since at least the early 1980s.
The boys team graduated five skiiers, and the girls team graduated two skiers.
Gary Quiricone expects the girls top skiers to be Kelsey Tague, Sydney Burton and Elize Wiant, who are seniors, as well as juniors Flossie Dewar and Ana Wyckoff.
The fastest boys should be seniors Zach Finzi and Matt Chan and junior Davey Hawthorne.
"The girls team comes into this season strong again with many returning racers," Gary Quiricone said.
"The strength of the boys team will be dependent on some (junior varsity) racers from last season who are moving up to the varsity," he said.
