4 local swimmers
in state's Top 25
Four town swimmers who are 8 years old and younger, members of the Park City Wolfpack swim club based in Bridgeport, have earned Top 25 status in the state for their events.
All four qualified for the regional Championships early next month by attaining their teams over the fall and winter short course season.
Bridget Negron is ranked ninth in the 200-yard freestyle, with a time of 3:15.04, and 15th in the 100-yard freestyle (1:25.00).
Nathaniel Taft is No. 13 in the 100 backstroke (1:39.07) and 22nd in the 50 backstroke (45.01).
Aidan Roche is ranked 12th in the 100 backstroke (1:38.45) and 25th in the 50 backstroke (45.30).
Kair Funaro is No. 22 in the 100 backstroke (1:44.98).
"I am thrilled," said coach Alan Marcel, also coach of the Fairfield Ludlowe boys team.
"Our first year as a swim club was a great one. I saw a lot of growth this year. To have four swimmers from a new club make the Top 25 is a great accomplishment."
Registration closes Feb. 28 for Fairfield Little League Girls Softball. Participation fees cost $110 for T-Ball and A Ball players and $150 for all other levels (AA, AAA, Majors, Juniors). Registration, which has been open for most of the winter, can be done online at fllgs.org. More information is available by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. The season begins in early April.
