FUSA tryout

All players wishing to tryout must register online and in advance for the Fairfield United Soccer Association fall 2014/spring 2015 season. No walk-up registrations will be accepted.

FUSA programs for the fall are for players that will be entering third through eighth grades in the fall.

Tryouts will run through mid-June. There will be two tryout sessions for each age group (U9-U12 boys, girls). There will be only one tryout for U13-U14. Players should attend both sessions. The schedule, with dates, times and locations per age group, is on the FUSA website.

Town rowers

earn medals

Several town residents earned medals for the Connecticut Boat Club at the U.S. Rowing Northeast Junior District Championships last weekend.

Jessica Ferrante and Isabel Fitter were part of the gold-medal winning Varsity 4+ crew. Kassy Boliakis, Erin Rigney and Kelly Caione rowed in the gold medal Second Varsity 8+ crew. Boliakis was in the silver medal JV Four. Ferrante and Fitter were in the silver medal Varsity 8+ crew. Olivia Luther competed in the Novice 4 "B" boat.

Boys who will be in grades four through nine for the 2014-15 school year are eligible to enroll in a basketball skills clinic on July 7-11, from 9 a.m. to noon, at Fairfield Ludlowe High School.

It will be run by Ludlowe boys basketball coach John Dailey, along with high school/college players.

Those interested in participating must send to coach Dailey a form with name, address, city/state/zip code, email address for comfirmation, phone number, age and grade of student-camper during 2014-15. Checks must be made payable to coach Dailey and sent by USPS to him at 248 Old Post Road, Fairfield 06824.

Basketball Academy

The Ryan Swaller Basketball Academy will run from July 7-11 from 9am-12pm. The cost of the camp is $160. The camp will be held at Fairfield Warde High School. The camp will focus on individual skills along with team concepts. The camp is open to grades 4-9 (entering High School).

Danko co-ed

basketball academy

Three sessions have been planned for the David M. Danko Basketball Academy Co-Ed. Cost is $199 per player for sessions one and three; $100 for session two campers.

The first session will be at Fairfield Warde High School, where he is the veteran girls basketball coach, June 23-27, from 9 a.m. to noon. It is open to boys and girls from ages 4 to 14 (grades K through 9). The second session, for advanced co-ed players, will be June 30-July 2, at Warde from 10 a.m. to noon.

The third session, for girls only ages 4-14, will be at Long Lots Elementary School in Westport from July 14-18, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Ruth season

Fairfield Senior Babe Ruth is accepting applications for the spring/summer season from all players who reside in Fairfield who were born between Jan. 1, 1995 and May 1, 1998.

Starting at the end of May through mid-July, the Fairfield Senior Babe Ruth travel team will be playing a 21-game schedule with an additional season-ending tournament.

The fee for this year's team will be $275. The cost covers uniform and all league-related expenses.
