Things that hold other things make great gifts this summer

What do you give someone who has everything? Things to put things in, of course.

A box that’s cool and useful — and part of the reusable container trend —counts as a cool and trendy gift.

Meori’s Foldable Storage Box ($40 www.thegrommet.com ) doubles as a tote that can be taken to the supermarket. Or place it next to your favorite chair to hold all the books and magazines you intend to read one day.

The design is sharp: It’s super sturdy, folds flat for storage and unfolds in a snap. A padded strap makes it comfortable for carrying up to 65 pounds of groceries, sports gear or just about anything else.

Its polished finish is attractive enough to keep it in the living room and the Earth-friendly design (partly made from recycled materials) wipes clean for easy care.

“This box is amazing! It's completely changed my shopping experience and I have no idea what I'd do without it now,” one shopper wrote online.

A more festive vessel is the Nicholas Collection Martini Shaker ($64 www.CorkPops.com), which recently introduced a premium 304 stainless steel version with copper plating on its exterior.

The martini drinker on your gift list will appreciate its 32-ounce capacity, good for large batches. A cap with a 180-degree opening ability reduces spillage by allowing the beverage to be dispensed from any direction.

According to the Gin Foundry , 28% of U.S. gin fans voted for the martini as their favorite gin drink. Zero percent want any of their gin spilled when pouring from their shaker.

But not everyone drinks martinis. For them, there’s the Eco Vessel’s Port triple-insulated stainless steel wine and whiskey tumbler ($19.95 thegrommet.com).

The Port tumbler can be part of a wine-lovers outdoor tasting adventures or simply enjoyed at home.

With its stylized three-dimensional design element, the tumbler is comfortable to hold. Your hands won’t freeze while holding a frozen drink. But more to the point, its 18/8 stainless steel construction keeps your drinks cool on a hot terrace. It also keeps hot drinks hot for coffee and tea drinkers.

Being a stemless cup, the tumbler is also a practical alternative to traditional wine and cocktail glasses.
