Final suspect ID’d after firearm violations, pursuit in Bridgeport, Fairfield

UPDATE: 10:26 P.M.

Fairfield police reiterated that the pursuit was sparked by Bridgeport police attempting to stop a vehicle for firearm violations.

The driver fled into Fairfield, onto Brookfield Avenue, and two suspects were taken into custody shortly after all three suspects took off fro the vehicle.

One of the suspects was taken into custody at Stop & Shop in Fairfield and another at Tunxis Hill Park, Fairifeld police said. The third suspect was later identified by police and was “determined to have left town,” Fairfield police said.

Bridgeport police spokesman Terron Jones said initial reports of a vehicle pursuit were called in by Bridgeport police just before 5 p.m.

Jones said the pursuit started on Wood Avenue and that the suspects were wanted for having “apparent illegal firearms.” The chase ended in Fairfield when three suspects fled the vehicle, Jones said.

Two of the suspects were apprehended by Bridgeport police with the help of Fairfield police, he said. The third outstanding suspect is still being looked for.

FAIRFIELD — Fairfield and Bridgeport police are canvassing some neighborhoods in Fairfield early Tuesday night for a suspect who apparently fled from Bridgeport cops earlier.

Fairfield police took to Twitter around 6 p.m. to let its residents know why there were police in the area of Tunxis Hill Park, Berkley Road and Greenfield Street. The suspect police are searching for was described as a light-skinned “Hispanic male with long hair” who fled from Bridgeport police.

It was unclear why the suspect was wanted by Bridgeport police.
