Bridgeport man allegedly tried to break into parked cars in Fairfield

FAIRFIELD — A Bridgeport man was arrested outside Planet Fitness, 111 Black Rock Turnpike, Tuesday night after he was allegedly seen trying to break into cars.

Joseph Tuscano, 23, of Brewster Street, was charged with two counts each of criminal attempt at third-degree burglary and criminal attempt at sixth-degree larceny.

A woman was sitting in her car in the parking lot talking on her phone, she told police, when she saw a man walk up to two different cars and pull on the door handles. She said she got out of her car and yelled at him, asking what he was doing. She said he replied, “Nothing, what are you talking about?” He then began to quickly walk down the street, she said, and she followed him in her car.

Police took Tuscano into custody on Brewster Street. He denied trying to break into any cars and said he was in the parking lot because he was thinking about going to the gym when the woman yelled at him.

Tuscano was released on a promise to appear in state Superior Court in Bridgeport Oct.19.
