Conversations with aging parents topic of upcoming talk at Fairfield Senior Center

The relationship between adult children and their parents will be the topic of a presentation and panel discussion at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at the Fairfield Senior Center, 100 Mona Terrace. The speaker is Shannon White, the pastor of the Wilton Presbyterian Church and the author of "The Invisible Conversations with Your Aging Parents."

The program will address how to discuss sensitive issues with elderly parents such as living arrangements, declining health, money, or the ability to drive. The program, sponsored by the Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County, will help participants communicate more directly about the important, and sometimes difficult, topics that need to be addressed within families.

Following the presentation, a panel of experts in elder law, health care, social work and dementia will discuss such vital concerns as legal matters (living wills, last will and testament, power of attorney) and health care issues such as caregiving, memory loss and end-of-life decisions.

The free presentation and panel discussion is for spouses, extended family and anyone who recognizes the need for open and honest communication within a caring relationship.

Light refreshments will be served. Registration is required. Call the Fairfield Senior Center at 203-256-3166 to reserve a spot or for more information.
