FAIRFIELD — Lindsay Teixeira, a 21-year-old Derby resident, was is facing DUI charges in connection with a car crash in May.
Around 3 a.m. on May 18, officers responded to a multi-vehicle collision on North Benson Road.
According to reports, a vehicle exiting Interstate 95 South failed to stop at the flashing red traffic signal at the bottom of the ramp and proceeded across North Benson Road, over the curb and onto the property of a home, striking three unoccupied cars parked in the driveway.
The vehicle’s operator, later identified as Teixeira, allegedly appeared disoriented and unaware that she had been in an accident. Police said she was unreactive to light and mumbled when she spoke. A passenger in the vehicle, who was reported as having rambling speech, stated that both he and Teixeira had used PCP, police said.
Police obtained medical records from Teixeira’s emergency room transport and transferred them to the State of Connecticut Forensic Lab. According to police, her blood alcohol content just over an hour after the collission was 0.08.
Teixeira was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, a red light violation and failure to drive in the proper lane. She turned herself in on an arrest warrant on July 26 and was scheduled to appear in court the same day.
