The Fairfield Museum & History Center invites the public to submit photographs to the twelfth annual IMAGES Juried Photography Show, which celebrates the exceptional work of talented regional photographers. Submissions through the contest website will be accepted through March 1.
IMAGES 2020 provides an excellent opportunity for artists to connect with prominent collectors, gallery owners, fellow photographers, and the public. A jury will select approximately 40 photographs for exhibition at the Fairfield Museum. Two grand prize winners will be selected, one Professional/Serious Amateur and one Student. The award for the Professional/Serious Amateur winner is a gallery show at the Bruce S. Kershner Gallery, and the Student winner will receive a portfolio review with a professional in the photography field.
Artists must reside in CT, NY, RI, or MA and may submit up to 10 images under one the following two designations: Professional/Serious Amateur or Student (active student under 24 years of age). The categories for photographs are Landscape, Portrait, Architecture, Nature and Abstract. Photographs must depict reality and cannot be manipulated to add or subtract major elements that alter that reality. All competition entries must be submitted online. All entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. EST on Sunday, March 1. For full details visit https://www.fairfieldhistory.org/exhibitions/images/.
A Gala Preview Party will open the exhibition and be held on Saturday, April 25, at the Fairfield Museum, 370 Beach Road.
This year's featured photographer is Victoria Will, whose authentic portraiture has appeared in Vogue, Rolling Stone, W Magazine, and more. Her first monograph, Borne Back, a collection of tintype portraits, was published in 2017 by Peanut Press. A special IMAGES 2020 Gala Preview Party with Victoria Will takes place on Saturday, April 25.
Judges this year are Victoria Will (Featured Photographer, IMAGES 2020), Bob Burns (Executive Director, Mattatuck Museum), and Brad Smith (Vice President for Photography, WWE).
IMAGES 2020 is presented in memory of Marcia B. Saft. A former Fairfield Museum Board Member and devoted community leader and philanthropist, Marcia Saft (1945-2016) was an enthusiastic supporter of Fairfield’s history and artistic legacy. Additional thanks to the Bruce S. Kershner Gallery for its support.
