Ludlowe girls third, Warde boys fourth, Ludlowe sixth in FCIAC meet

NEW HAVEN - The 2017-18 FCIAC Indoor Track and Field championships took place on Feburary 1 and the Fairfield Ludlowe girls’ team finished in third place with a total of 72 points. Fairfield Warde placed 14th with a total of three points.

In the 4x200 medley relay, the Falcons’ team of Mei Fung, Olivia Accomando, Anna Mendenhall and Ashley Moynahan finished ninth with a time of 1:56.90 with the Warde team of Mallory Elliott, Emilia Vella, Lana Kareem and Nile Robinson taking 10th in 1:57.50. In the 4x800 meter relay, Ludlowe’s team of Madeline Ruggerio, Lauren O’Neil, Micaela Walsh and Paige Davis finished third in 10:03.97. Wrade’s team of Taylor Treonze, Anka Dixon, Julia Croke and Emily Green placed 10th in 12:03.79. In the 1,000-meter run, Ludlowe’s Alyssa Kraus finished second in a time of 3:02.58, teammate Ruggerio was 12th in 3:18.52 with Warde’s Carly Pavoni taking 18th in 3:21.13. In the 600-meter run, Warde’s Shannon Garrett was 21st in 1:51.40 and Ludlowe’s Walsh was 22nd in 1:51.53.

Ludlowe’s Tess Stapleton won the 55-meter hurdles with a time of :8.62 seconds with teammate Nora Skoczen taking sixth in :9.19 seconds. In the 55-meter dash, Ludlowe’s Maya Mocarski won the event with a time of :7.48 seconds. In the 1,600-meter run, Ludlowe’s Keegan Simonsen placed second in 5:16.15, Warde’s Julia Eustace was fifth in 5:21.18, Ludlowe’s Davis was sixth in 5:23.77 and Ludlowe’s Julia Antonicelli was 11th in 5:39.86. in the 1,600-meter sprint medley, Luldowe’s team of Mendenhall, Moynahan, Accomando and Kraus placed fourth in 4:26. 06 and Warde’s team of Kareem, Robinson, Garrett and Eustace was ninth in 4:48.50.

In the 300-meter dash, Warde’s Emilia Vella was 26th and Mallory Elliott was 28th with times of :46.38 and :46.56 seconds, respectively. In the 3,200-meter run, Ludlowe’s Simonsen was fifth with a time of 11:47.53, teammate Lauren O’Neil was eighth in 12:00.44 and Ludlowe’s Sophia Lesko was 12th in 12:26.01. Warde’s Abigail Hart was 19th in 12:45.87 and Warde’s Emily Vogt was 20th in 12:46.30. In the 4x400-meter relay, Ludlowe’s team of Davis, Ruggerio, Accomando and Kraus was fourth in 4:16.59 and Warde’s team of Kareem, Robinson, Vella and Eustace was 10th in 4:35.51.

In the long jump, Ludlowe’s Stapleton was second with a distance of 17-feet, 9½-inches. Warde’s Mallory Elliott was ninth with a jump of 15-feet, 4½-inches. Ludlowe’s Skoczen was 13th with a jump of 14-feet, 7¾-inches. Warde’s Manar Enany was fourth in the shot put with a throw of 29-feet, 11¼-inches. In the high jump, Ludlowe’s Stapleton won the event with a jump of 5-feet, 2-inches.

On the boys’ side, Warde finished in fourth place with 40 points with Ludlowe taking sixth place with 35 points.

Warde’s James Maniscalco was third in 4:27.58, Warde’s Noah Igram was fifth in 4:38.13, Warde’s Pomer was seventh in 4:44.95.

In the 1,600-meter sprint medley, Ludlowe’s team of Carter Lambo, Dillon Buongiorno, Greg Arrigo and Bartlett placed second in 3:48.47. Warde’s team of Jacob Deck, Keith Grant, Jeremy Garskof and Muhlenberg was seventh in 4:07.38. In the 300-meter dash, Warde’s Danazumi was fifth in :36.42 seconds. In the 3,200-meter run, Warde’s Mocarski was second with a time of 9:44. 92. Warde’s Chris Leppa was 10 th, clearing 10-feet. In the high jump, Ludlowe’s Dillon Buongirono was 12th with a jump of 5-feet, 4-inches.

In the SCC Championships that took place at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven, Fairfield Prep placed fourth in the team standings with 36 points.

Individually, Greg Anderson finished fourth in the 55-meter dash (:6.88 seconds); John Gnibus was ninth in the 300-meter dash (:37.54); McKinnon Sheldon was eighth in the 1,000-meter run (2:41.25); Drew Thompson won the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:25.77, with teammate Azaan Dawson finishing third (4:31.01), Ed Tristine was fourth (4:33.79), Drew Newcomb was seventh (4:37.54) and Ian Cipollaro was 13th in (4:53.24).

In the 4x200-meter relay, Prep’s team of John Gnibus, Joshua bacon, Sheldon Williams and Greg Anderson finished sixth in 1:38.42; the 4x800-meter relay team of MacKinnon Sheldon, Drew Newcomb, Ed Tristine and Drew Thompson won the race with a new SCC meet record time of 8:11.57; in the long jump, Robert McCullough was sixth with a jump of 19-feet, 10¾-inches and Joshua Bacon was 14th at 18-feet 4-inches.
