Man faces drug charges after traffic stop

A West Haven man was arrested on drug charges Thursday evening after he was stopped near the Post Road traffic circle for not having a front license plate on his car, police said.

Robert Flanagan, 20, was charged with possession of narcotics and marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of alcohol by a minor and given infractions for no insurance and not displaying a front plate.

An officer spotted Flanagan's car near the McDonald's on the Post Road, according to the report. Flanagan pulled into McDonald's parking lot, and was making some "furtive moves" inside the car, police said. Asked if he had anything illegal, Flanagan and his passenger, Felicia Stolz, 19, of Howe Avenue, Shelton, both admitted they did, according to the report. Flanagan said he had a marijuana grinder and Stolz said she had marijuana.

When police searched the car they said they also found eight paper folds of heroin and more pot, as well as a liter bottle of vodka. Stolz was issued an infraction for possession of marijuana.

Flanagan was released on a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear April 23 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
