Motorist arrested for alleged drug sales

FAIRFIELD — A traffic stop Saturday night for a motorist who failed to stop for a stop sign, led to his arrest on drug charges.

Terence McNichol, 43, of Connecticut Avenue, Bridgeport, was charged with possession of narcotics with intent to sell and possession of a controlled substance.

An officer said he saw McNichol roll through a stop sign after exiting the Nutmeg Bowl parking lot and drive up on a sidewalk. McNichol then turned onto Arising Street, a dead-end road. When the officer pulled him over, McNichol told him he was on probation for drug-related charges.

McNichol was asked to get out of the car, and when he did, the officer noticed a plastic bag sticking out of his waistband. The bag contained 15 smaller bags of cocaine.

According to police, McNichol has six prior arrests for narcotics sales and is on federal probation.

He was held on a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Bridgeport March 12.
