Menorah lightingsin Fairfield, Easton

The Mishkan Israel Day Camp plans to celebrate the Jewish festival of Hanukkah with a series of public lightings of menorahs through Dec. 9 in five Fairfield County communities, including Fairfield and Easton.

The ceremonies are all open to the public free of charge. Activities for children, light refreshments and musical entertainment have been arranged as well.

Fairfield’s ceremony will take place Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. at the Sherman Green on Reef Road. This is the 29th anniversary of the ceremony.

Easton’s ceremony will take place Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. at the Easton Town Green. This is the 33rd anniversary of the ceremony.

Sabia Tree Farm open for holidays

EASTON — Sabia Tree Farm in Easton is open for the holiday season.

Offerings include not only cut-your-own or pre-cut Christmas trees, but also handmade wreaths, ornaments, Christmas cards, and gifts from local artisans.

DMV promotes teen safe-driver video contest

The state Department of Motor Vehicles is promoting the annual DMV-Travelers Teen Safe Driving Video Contest for Connecticut high school students. This year’s theme, “Wait — What Can We Do?” focuses on teen drivers collaborating to follow the state’s Graduated Driver Licensing laws for 16-and 17-year-olds.

Travelers will award up to $26,000 in cash prizes to the winning students and their high schools. The deadline for submissions is Dec. 17. Video contest rules and additional information can be found at ct.gov/teendriving/contest.
