Nerreau named academic All-America by US Lacrosse

Fairfield Warde senior Meredith Nerreau has been named an All-Academic All-America by U.S. Lacrosse for the 2014 girls high school season. She is the first Mustangs girls player to receive the honor, coach Tom Davis said.

Nerreau, named co-captain for Warde's 2015 team, was one of 79 players in Connecticut to receive the honor.

Nerreau, a midfielder, scored 40 goals and supplied 18 assists for the Mustangs (15-6-1), who reached the CIAC Class L semifinals in June. She scooped 45 ground balls and had 34 draw controls. Nerreau was honorable mention All-FCIAC.

All-Academic award winners excel on the field, with sportsmanship and in the classroom, and they make contributions within their schools or communities.

Nerreau has been a Mustangs starter for all three seasons. Sarah Reilly and Kelly Milicia will be Warde's other captains alongside Nerreau next spring. Nerreau played a major role in Warde's transition game, and she helped to direct the Mustangs' attack.

"Meredith receiving this award is great recognition for her not only as a lacrosse player but also as a student-athlete and a community leader," Davis said. "This award reaches way beyond lacrosse."
