SHU fall to New Hampshire

FAIRFIELD — The Sacred Heart women’s basketball team was held to just six field goals and 19 points in the first half of a 74-47 loss to New Hampshire in a non-league game Wednesday afternoon.

The Pioneers (4-7) were 6-for-25 from the floor (24.0 percent) in the first half and trailed 47-19 at the break. For the game, Sacred Heart converted 14 of 45 field goals (31.1 percent) and went 15-for-26 (57.7 percent) from the free throw line.

The Pioneers trailed by as many as 40 points in the third quarter, but outscored the Wildcats (8-4) 21-10 in the fourth quarter.

Tykera Carter scored 12 points and Asia McCray added nine points off the bench in the loss for Sacred Heart.

Four players reached double digits in scoring for New Hampshire, led by Kat Fogarty and Olivia Healy, who scored 16 and 15 points, respectively.
