EMMITSBURG, Md. — Candice Leatherwood scored a career-high 24 points and the Pioneers snapped a four-game losing streak with a NEC win over the Mount.
Four of the Pioneers’ (5-9, 1-2 NEC) starters reached double figures in scoring and combined to score 80 of the team’s 82 points, led by Leatherwood. Tykera Carter added 18 points, Katherine Haines posted a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds and Adrianne Hagood scored 15 points in the win.
Sacred Heart made 10 3-pointers in the game (10-for-23, 43.5 percent), while holding Mount St. Mary’s to just 3-of-21 shooting (14.3 percent) from behind the arc.
Juliette Lawless scored 17 points in the loss for the Mount (5-9, 2-1).

BRIDGEPORT — Trailing by one in the second half, the Purple Knights ended the game on a 29-12 run to pick up the team’s third straight victory.
Bridgeport (12-4, 5-1 ECC) was down by one point at 45-44 with 10:01 left, before Dennis Green’s 3-pointer sparked the game-winning run and put the Purple Knights ahead for good at 47-44 with 9:38 remaining.
Hashem Abbas’ 15 points off the bench led four players in double-figure scoring for Bridgeport. D’Vonne Trumbo just missed a triple-double with 14 points, nine rebounds and eight assists, Sam Joseph had 12 points and eight steals and Sharif Cobb scored 11 points in the win.
Kameron Murrell scored a game-high 21 points and Justin Reyes had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds in the loss for the Spartans (13-4, 4-1).
ST. THOMAS AQUINAS 65, UB WOMEN 47
BRIDGEPORT — The Purple Knights led by eight at the end of the first quarter, but were held to just 25 points over the next three quarters in loss to the ECC-leading Spartans.
Bridgeport (5-11, 2-4 ECC) led 22-14 after the first quarter, led by eight points from Samnell Vonleh and six by Briana Stoddart. In the second quarter, however, the Purple Knights were held to just six points and two baskets, while St. Thomas Aquinas (13-1, 5-0) scored 19 points to take a 33-30 halftime lead and never look back.
Jenna Erickson scored a game-high 19 points and Julia Winnik and Adiya Henderson scored 14 points apiece for the Spartans.
Bridgeport 192.650, Southern Connecticut 186.150: Kelsey Campbell won the all-around (38.775) and the bars (9.850), Nina Whittaker won the vault (9.750) and Maya Reimers won the beam (9.700) in the season-opening meet for the Purple Knights.
Sacred Heart 3, Army West Point 3 (OT): Marc Johnstone had one goal and one assist, Vito Bavaro and Zach Tsekos each scored one goal and Brett Magnus made 29 saves in goal in the tie for the Pioneers (4-12-4, 2-8-4 AHA) at Nassau Colisseum in Uniondale, N.Y.
Sacred Heart 4, St. Catherine 0: Katie Stueve scored two goals and Jayne Lewis and Taylor Moreland scored one goal apiece in the win for the Pioneers (15-4) at The Rinks at Shelton.
