Elinskas inducted into Hall of Fame

In a ceremony as part of the state's annual Babe Ruth presidents' meeting in Wallingford last Sunday, Fairfield's Bob Elinskas was honored with induction into the Connecticut State Babe Ruth Hall of Fame.

Elinskas was cited for his three decades of leadership with Babe Ruth baseball as a manager, league president and district commissioner. Under his leadership, Fairfield Junior Babe Ruth has grown to become a nine-town league.

Sound Tigers game

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers' AHL game March 1 against the Worcester Sharks at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport will be Fairfield Night in honoring the town's 375th anniversary. The game starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale for discount price of $20 (regularly $36) through Feb. 23. The advanced tickets are on sale at the Fairfield Parks and Recreation office at 75 Mill Plain Road.

Warde wins

FCIAC cheerleading

Fairfield Warde won the 17th Annual FCIAC Cheerleading Competition last Saturday at its home gymnasium. Trumbull placed second in the 13-team competition.

Warde was led by senior captains Madison Beerbower, Tali Cohen and Mackenzie Tarczali. Also sparking the team were seniors Cozette More, Caitlin Wholley, Lauren Jacobi and Meaghan Gavey.

Fairfield Ludlowe won the competition last year.
