This weekend won’t seem like winter.
High temperatures are expected to reach the low to mid 60s on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
There’s a good chance the high temperatures could break some records. The current high temperature record for Danbury on Jan. 11, 2019 is 58 degrees set in 2014; 56 degrees in Bridgeport and New Haven set in 1975; and 54 in Norfolk set in 2016.
And there’s a chance some April-like showers for both days. A thunderstorm is also possible Sunday morning.
The showers, however, will not make the weekend a total washout.
There will be plenty of rain-free times to enjoy the mild temperatures outside, according to the National Weather Service’s hourly forecast.
The best chance of precipitation - rain, not show - is between midnight Saturday through Sunday morning. Less than a quarter inch of rain is expected.
Friday and Saturday night could also have some fog caused by the low-level moisture and a southwest flow of air.
Forecast highs will be in the lower 50s for today and more in the upper 50s and 60s for this weekend.
Rain showers become more likely late Saturday night into early Sunday with a possible thunderstorm as well and this is when the cold front will be closer to the region.
The Northeast Regional Climate Center says temperatures this month in Connecticut are averaging around 8 degrees above normal.
Temperatures early next week will be cooler compared to the weekend, but still above normal in the middle and upper 40s.
